What's next: KADET Exchange and the road ahead

Streaming gave the world access to music. It did not give creators an economy. For most artists, a stream is a fraction of a cent and a data point — not a livelihood, and not ownership.

KADET starts with streaming because that is where discovery happens. But our ambition goes further: to build the marketplace layer where music value can actually move. We call it KADET Exchange.

Creators need more than plays. They need ownership, marketplaces and direct relationships with the people who value their work.

Why streaming alone isn't enough

Streaming solved distribution, but it flattened value. Every song becomes an interchangeable unit in a feed, and the economics reward scale over connection. Independent artists — the majority of creators — are left with visibility but very little income.

  • Payouts are tiny and opaque, controlled by intermediaries.
  • Fans have no meaningful way to invest in the artists they love early.
  • Creators own their audience in name only, rarely in practice.

The KADET Exchange vision

KADET Exchange is our vision for a marketplace where music value can be discovered, exchanged and owned — natively within the Pi ecosystem. Instead of value leaking out to intermediaries, it stays close to the people who create and support the work.

Think of it as the economic layer that sits alongside streaming: discovery brings people in, and the exchange lets that attention translate into real, direct value.

A marketplace for music

We imagine a space where releases, editions and creator offerings can live as first-class items — not buried links, but a genuine marketplace designed for music and the communities around it.

  • Direct support that reaches creators, not middlemen.
  • Limited editions and experiences that fans can genuinely own.
  • Transparent, understandable economics for both sides.

Digital ownership that means something

Ownership should be simple and real. Our focus is on giving fans a tangible stake in the music and artists they believe in — and giving creators durable, portable ownership of their catalogue and their audience, rather than access that can be revoked.

Powering the creator economy

The creator economy works when the tools compound. Streaming, a marketplace, ownership and rewards should reinforce one another so that a growing audience actually grows a creator's income. KADET Exchange is designed to be that connective marketplace inside the wider ecosystem.

Built for the Pi ecosystem

Pi is moving toward real utility — identity, sign-in and developer tooling that let applications do meaningful things. A marketplace for music is exactly the kind of practical, everyday use case that gives an ecosystem life. Building KADET Exchange on Pi lets us tap into a global community that already believes in building, not just holding.

  • A ready community of Pioneers who value participation.
  • Utility features that make real transactions possible.
  • An opportunity to prove what an ecosystem economy can look like.

The road ahead

Our roadmap is sequenced deliberately: strengthen the streaming and discovery experience, deepen creator tools, then introduce marketplace and ownership features step by step. Each stage is built to stand on its own and to make the next one better.
